Restart the NHL?

Will the St. Louis Blues defend their Stanley Cup title?

Likes all professional sports in the USA, the NHL paused their 2019-2020 season, in early March, due to COVID-19. In the past few weeks, we’ve heard of plans for Major League Baseball to start their season by early July.

And, we’re heard, in the past few days, that the NHL fully intends to complete their season, as well as delay the start of the 2020-2021 season. There are apparently 2 plans.

The first allows for 24 teams to re-enter the season. The top 4 teams would compete for playoff seeds, while the bottom teams would compete to get in the playoffs. The second plan only allows for 16 teams to heard straight into the playoffs with regular season games abandoned.

No matter which plan wins, the season is over for the Sabres, Devils, Ducks, Kings, Sharks, Senators and Red Wings.
