MLB 2020 Season Plans This Week?

Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, home of the St. Louis Cardinals

Rumors have been circling, for the past few days, that MLB officials will present a plan to start the 2020 season. It’s been delayed due to the COVID-19 virus. Here’s what we know so far:

  • “Spring” training to take place in late June
  • Season opening in early July, around the 4th of July holiday
  • An 80-game season (normally there are 161 games in a season)
  • Teams to play in their home stadiums if allowed by local officials
  • Most teams to play in their own division to minimize travel
  • Expanded playoffs of 7-teams (for more revenue)
  • No fans until allowed by local officials
  • Expanded rosters, as many as 50-players
  • Reduced player salaries

While it’s not official yet, we’re getting closer to seeing baseball again!
