Rumors have been circling, for the past few days, that MLB officials will present a plan to start the 2020 season. It’s been delayed due to the COVID-19 virus. Here’s what we know so far:
- “Spring” training to take place in late June
- Season opening in early July, around the 4th of July holiday
- An 80-game season (normally there are 161 games in a season)
- Teams to play in their home stadiums if allowed by local officials
- Most teams to play in their own division to minimize travel
- Expanded playoffs of 7-teams (for more revenue)
- No fans until allowed by local officials
- Expanded rosters, as many as 50-players
- Reduced player salaries
While it’s not official yet, we’re getting closer to seeing baseball again!
