St. Louis hockey fans have become accustomed to late spring and early summer hockey, thanks to successful playoffs runs and, of course, the 2018-2019 St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup championship.
The 2019-2020 season took a strange turn as games were postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result, the NHL has been considering a myriad of options to complete some number of remaining games and save the season. At first, there was talk of playing in all neutral cities such as North Dakota & New Hampshire.
In recent days, we’ve heard about the possibility of St. Louis being one of four host cities, including Edmonton, St. Paul and Raleigh (a city in Florida has also been mentioned in other reports). This information seems to be accurate as St. Louis Blues President & CEO, Chris Zimmerman, has confirmed with local media outlets.
St. Louis could be an ideal location. Beyond Enterprise Center, the St. Louis metro areas includes several other rinks, such as Family Arena in St. Charles and the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, amongst others. Many hotels are reasonably located near these areas as well.
Of course, nothing will take place without all considerations being satisfied and approval from local government officials.
